Wow that's a lot of hatred there. The tradition is true, my parents were like that, with my American born father and my Japanese mom handling the finances. My father loved the idea of mom handling the money and handling the bookkeeping side of raising kids so that he was able to do his own thing (hobby) as much as he wanted within a comfortable controlled environment. The tradition doesn't have to be so stifling and rigid as you say although I know few women were like that but I even feel they are a minority. Most Japanese women work and I also know a lot of single mothers that work and are raising children on their own. I am surprised men are caught in this ordeal, how did you not communicate those things before plunging into a life long commitment? I think it's more about communication, negotiation and respect.

I have traveled to many countries throughout the years and I have met some fucking weird asses and but more good people but my point is there is good and bad people everywhere in the world. Now the looks thing man I got that a lot in western countries and always was asked If I'm a black guy they use terms that is more on the racial side and my friend from Canada was confused and other friends from other counties because my skin color isn't white or black so they whenever they witnessed these moments It was like wait what and they me and them would question those weird asses. I have dated ladies from different races and religions than mine and I haven't dealt / experienced any money hungry women that is this bad wow. The pocket money and reimbursement part was funny and fucking shameful like what the hell. I have friends we hang out rarely now but back then we hanged out with a guy long story short I think Canada or the US and he let his girlfriend come live with him which was the first issue due to them just dating 1 year or 2 at the time my friends are from different countries to even the US and Canada like he was and they even were like what the hell so It's not even a culture difference and he pays the bills and all while she is chilling like what the hell. To make it even worse when we asked and tried to talk sense to him he defended her saying she's a beautiful nice women we laughed and moved o from that boy and said he is not a man. I think both men and women should be equal work pay bills together and chill because If one is paying everything that's just insane. The fact is Japanese women are not romantic at all but very realistic、usually won’t show true face until get married. Japanese women are very detailed about the financial matters and a single mistake of calculation for one penny won’t be allowed、at the same time keen at doing all the housework and keep it clean. Japanese men don’t mind marrying into that way but for a foreign man unless you must live in Japan then you have to accept that kind of culture.

I've lived in Japan for over two decades and I've never heard such rubbish being spoken by anyone on RUclips about Japan. The amount of trash that comes out of your mouth is awe inspiring. Well. First… I’m going to try to limit my comments to the contents of each part (meaning there is much more to be said on this general topic). I’ll say this… there IS much truth to what you say and so it definitely serves well to inform foreign men and weebs who all look at Japan and Japanese women with rose-colored glasses. These guys who are thinking they’ll get some cute Japanese girl and wife her up to be a sweet quiet and subservient wife. I too find myself countering many of these misconceptions that foreign men have here on RUclips and in online forums. However, that being said these issues aren’t an absolute thing (as in it’s not 100% all Japanese women) and you can even end up with some of the exact same problems with women and marriage in the U.S. (perhaps the UK and EU as well?). I was born in Jamaica to a Jamaican mother and American father, raised in the US. I graduated from a top US university with a degree in East Asian studies, studied in Japan and am fluent in Japanese. I lived and worked in Japan for 8 years after college, first on the JET Program and then working in tech. I am married to a Japanese woman that I have been with for 28 years, married 20, who I met during college in the US. I (of course) have many married Japanese friends and married Japanese + foreigner friends. So I’d say that makes me a pretty good authority on this subject, yeah? So take a step back here… when two people are joining together to create a new household, you’ve got two different people, from different families with different ways of doing things. From seemingly simple things like cleaning and toilet seats to religion and child rearing. This is only multiplied when you have two people from completely different cultures. It should go without saying that from early on when you two start dating you should be talking about EVERYTHING… what are your expectations of the relationship at different stages? What are your expectations of your partner? What are your thoughts about having children? What are your ideas about child rearing and schooling? Where do you think you want to live going forward? Where might you want to retire? What are your thoughts about sex and its place in your relationship now, after marriage, and after children? What are your thoughts about finances and investments? Will she work after marriage? After kids? Anything and everything that you can think of should be what are you discussing and also periodically revisiting from the early days of your relationship. It’s of course not a guarantee, but it’s laying things out there for the both of you so you both are hopefully on the same page and understand what you expect of each other. So the main topic of this video… finances. I hope you realize that the EXACT same problem can and does happen in the US with joint finances. My advice for ALL couples, especially a point with Japanese wives… F THAT MESS. The only way to go is with semi-separated finances…. Her account, your account and a shared account for paying things like rent, food, things for the children and a little extra for savings that you both more or less equally contribute to. I FIRMLY don’t believe in housewives/stay-at-home-mothers. Why does having a uterus automatically dictate that women get to stay home and take care of the household and raise the kids? Prior to having children there is so much wrong with that, ESPECIALLY now in Japan with stagnate wages, loss of lifetime employment, and labor shortages caused by the declining population. The additional income and financial stability of having a second income just in case, makes far too much sense to mess with such antiquated ideas as housewives. However, even after children… these days both are more and more able to take parental leave and afterwards… both should go back to work. It is sexist, (and frankly stupid) to say the least, to postulate that uterus = good parent. I knew FAR more about caring for infants than my wife, having babysat all of my younger cousins and on top of that was present for EVERY OBY appointment, child birthing classes and read child rearing books. So why should having a uterus automatically dictate that women should stay home and care for young children? Why doesn’t she go back to work and the husband/father stay home? While I personally dislike cooking for all the time is wastes just to provide daily sustenance, I am an excellent cook. I am also a better housekeeper than most and a decent handyman. Both of my parents worked nearly my entire childhood, at times two jobs each. My wife and I had this exact conversation several times while dating with me stating all the above… and she was fine with it. Actually SHE proposed the separate accounts and liked working so she had her own money. As far as I’m concerned, you’re both working (better be working!) adults and once household bills and child related things are paid… what you do with your money is your business. If you can afford it, why should you be forced to buy some crappy economy car when what you want to buy is a Tesla? No, not every Japanese woman you date will be receptive to all these things… same for foreign women too! That’s exactly why you have the conversations from early on in the relationship to suss out whether or not you two are a match for the long term. Yes, it may take a lot of looking to find the right woman… welcome to dating! LOL. Finding a returnee or someone who has spent some time living abroad as opposed to someone who speaks little English and has never lived outside of Japan will definitely have an effect on your success. On to the next part…

I decided to be a single and childfree in my early 30's. Now, that I'm in my early 40's, I am glad that I stuck to that decision. I know so many guys who got screwed over by the women in their lives. I don't want to put myself in a situation, like the American guy who killed his ex-wife in divorce court. In my opinion, no woman is worth a man's freedom.

To be honest, the hallmark of a traditional marriage is the wife, NOT working a job. Hear me out! A lot of affairs occur in the workplace due to the mixing of the sexes. Also, it keeps the wives from being under the authority of men who are not their husbands. Again, there are a lot of affairs between wives and their male bosses. The Japanese wives staying home helps eliminate adultery on her side. Not 100 percent, but a large margin.

My Japanese wife failed miserably at finances. She wasted everything dollar I made....so, to survive, I took financial matters completely out of her hands. We have been married over 40 years and I give her a monthly allowance. No, she doesn't work. Hardly ever did. She is too autocratic to work well with others. I can't let her "run" hardly anything......because she simply cannot be trusted. Not too long after having our son, she went as frigid as the Arctic. So beautiful and innocent when we were dating.....after marriage, she turned into a banshee from hell. Her son and her own family detest how she acted and treats me. You think you married the worst Japanese woman, ever? Nope. I did. No doubt. Would I do it all over again? Not in a million years.
